Supply chain management (SCM) systems are more outward facing. These systems provide information to suppliers, purchasing firms and distributors.
The SCM system helps to firm to exchange information with its suppliers about availability of
materials and components, delivery dates for shipments of supplies, and production
requirements. And also to exchange information with its distributors about inventory levels, delivery dates for shipments of finished goods.
